DIY Deep Hair Cleanser

DIY Deep Hair Cleanser

There seems to get to a point for me and my hair when I am brushing it one morning and realize that it is not quite what I want it to be.  Those times call for a quick deep cleanse.

Hair Cleanser

Over time, stuff builds up on your hair.  Shampoo, conditioner, product and rubbish in the environment all contribute to your hair getting weighed down and looking dull.  Not to worry, there is most definitely something that you can do about it and it takes about 5 minutes and a good shower.  Get your ingredients together and go!

This is really very simple.  At it’s most basic form, you can just mix together bakings soda and apple cider vinegar and you will get a great hair cleanser.  If you want to take it a step further, then you can grab your essential oils and have a bit of fun. I like to go with cedar and clary sage.

Hair Cleanser

Why Cedar? It is said to stimulate hair follicles and has been used to treat hair loss (God forbid).  It also has astringent and antiseptic qualities and if there is anything funky going on on your scalp, this is a great addition to the cleanse.

Why Clary Sage? It has been used as a dandruff treatment for a long time and so is great at balancing the scalp.

All that you have to do is add the ingredients together, wait for the grade 3 volcano to stop bubbling and run the shower.  Wet your hair, give the mixture another good stir (it tends to settle out) and pour it onto your head.  Rub it really well into your scalp and wait a minute or so for it to soak in.  You can then either add a little shampoo and rinse or just rinse it out as it.  Dry your hair and style as usual.

Caution-  This stuff does not taste very good and I cannot imagine that it is great in the eyes.  It can take a bit of skill to get it onto your head without getting it on your face (well it did for me anyway…)
