I need you to trust me on this one…
Not one of us is immune to the signs of aging but there are little things that we can do to slow it down. I am always game for something new provided that I can find most of the ingredients in my fridge or cupboard.
I have been going on and on about the benefits of kefir for a while now and add it to everything from bread dough to salad dressing to morning smoothies. The probiotics balance out my insides and keep me feeling good and healthy all year round. I swear by this stinky lacto-fermented wonder and so it was somewhat surprising that it had never occurred to me to put it anywhere other than in my mouth.
While catching up with the kefir lovers online, I was scolded for not having tried a kefir facial. You can add all kinds of traditional mask ingredients like honey, olive oil, green tea and egg yolks but I thought that I would start off with something simple.
There is a reason that every cliche of a spa scene has cucumbers over people’s eyes. Cucumbers reduce inflammation and swelling and can help sooth the skin. With Spring allergy season building its arsenal, I am inneed of a little help!
First step is ingredient assembly.
I am far too lazy to juice the cucumber (and don’t have a juicer) and so I blended it smooth. Mix up the mask, apply and sit back and relax for 20 minutes.
I will admit that the smell was not awesome but my skin felt amazing afterward. Nobody every said that beauty was pretty!
Do you have any great kefir uses? Let me know!
